Wake County Board of Education

A class action lawsuit has been filed against the school board seeking an injunction to stop the conversion of 19 elementary and 3 middle schools to a mandatory year-round schedule. Parents and parent groups claim a year-round schedule would severely complicate the lives of families who have children on different school calendars as well as those with split families.

In the last 3 years, enrollment in Wake County schools has increased by more than 16,000 students and the board argues the new system will help manage the booming population.
