University of California, Davis

A class action lawsuit has been filed alleging the university fails to provide equal athletic opportunities and athletic scholarships for women students. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of women on the field hockey, rugby, and wrestling teams. The lawsuit claims University of California, Davis (UC Davis) fails to comply with Title IX of the US Code, the landmark 1972 federal legislation that guarantees equal access to college sports. UC Davis fields 14 women's varsity teams and does offer some athletic scholarships to women.
