Trees N Trends

A lawsuit has been filed and is seeking class action status against the Fairview Height merchant for allegedly violating the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACTA) by printing the last four credit card digits and expiration date on customer receipts. The lawsuit was filed in the Southern District of Illinois and claims Trees N Trends printed expiration dates and/or more than the last five digits of credit or debit cards on receipts at the point of sale. The case claims Trees N Trends knowingly and intentionally continued to use Devices which were not programmed to, or otherwise did not comply with FACTA.

In 2003, a statute was passed which provides that anyone accepting credit or debit cards may not print more than the last five digits of the card number or the expiration date upon any receipt provided to the cardholder at the point of sale or transaction.
