Burlington, KY: (Mar-05-07) A class action lawsuit filed against top prepaid cellular company, TracFone Wireless Inc., alleged that the company misled consumers by charging them at the roaming rate in their home calling area and refused to extend the length of their prepaid service periods during repairs of defective handsets. In a settlement reached, TracFone agreed to give each of the 12 million to 13 million TracFone customers 20 additional units of airtime, bringing the settlement costs to the company to about $70 million.
