T-Mobile USA Inc.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against the telecommunications company for allegedly charging for text messages received by consumers who do not want the feature. The lawsuit was filed in US District Court in Seattle and claims T-Mobile USA refuses to disable the text messaging feature on customers' accounts, even when the customer has no interest in sending or receiving text messages.

T-Mobile customers who do not subscribe to a Messaging Value Bundle, but receive text messages from other cell phone users, are required to pay for each and every unsolicited text message. The class action claims T-Mobile USA's texting policy violates federal telecom law and Washington state's consumer protection-unfair business practices act. The class action suit claims T-Mobile USA is engaging in a wrongful business scheme, supposedly designed to cheat a large number of users out of small sums of money.
