Following a US and Canadian recall of more than 2 million Stork Craft cribs, a national class action lawsuit has been filed in six jurisdictions on behalf of all US and Canadian consumers who purchased baby cribs manufactured by Stork Craft Manufacturing, including cribs that may have been sold under various brand names such as Fisher-Price.
Other defendants named in the suit include Sears Canada, and both the US and Canadian arms of Fisher-Price and Wal-Mart. Toys R Us is named as a defendant in Quebec.
The recall was issued on November 24, 2009, following reports that four children had suffocated in the United States, while in the faulty drop-sides Stork Craft cribs. A number of serious falls were also reported among children in both the US and Canada. In total, 110 incidents were reported prior to the recall.
The lawsuit is seeking financial compensation for the owners of the cribs.
