State Farm Mutual Insurance Co.

The insurance company agreed to award tens of thousands of car owners a $40 million class action settlement for allowing salvaged automobiles to be resold with inappropriate titles. All the vehicles' resale values will be decreased and if in an accident the compensation will be based on the salvage title prices. A new class action has been filed against State Farm claiming it had financial motive for allowing salvaged cars to enter the market without appropriate titles and delayed notifying car buyers in hopes of reducing its payout.
