Skyline Homes Faces Class Action Over Moisture Problems

- by

San Francisco, CA: A class action lawsuit has been filed against Skyline Homes Inc, on behalf of homeowners for allegedly failing to provide proper water protection for its line of manufactured homes.

According to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court of Eastern California, Skyline Homes designed, built and sold manufactured homes without adequate weather-resistant barriers on exterior walls.

Homeowners of Skyline's manufactured homes claimed to have experienced moisture-related problems including bugs, mold, mildew and rot due to the lack of weather-resistant sheets typically placed between the home's exterior walls and siding. This violates state and federal building codes for manufactured homes, which clearly regulates the design, construction and structural durability so that buildings can withstand normal elements and use. Skyline also guarantees manufacturing defects for at least 15 months, stating these defects will be corrected without charge and within a reasonable timeframe.

Skyline failed to comply with state and federal building codes as well as neglected to uphold warranties for manufacturing defects, the suit contends.

I am literally getting sick in my home I have a 1999 single wide home that I brought new and now my ceilings are creating dust and other particles everywhere in my home. I have been diagnosed with severe.breathing problems. I don’t feel safe in my home anymore. I have to wear a mask 24/7 because breathing in the constant dust particles. My windows are cracking and cabinets are falling apart, I think the inside walls and ceilings are deteriorating because of the material they were made of, the material definitely is not quality material. I have exhausted my finances trying to fix things that I thought would work and nothing is working. I’m living on a fixed income. Please I need help with this issue. I’m living in a horror house. I’m a senior citizen and I shouldn’t have to have a home that I thought I could live comfortably in to be so dangerous

I have a 2006 Skyline Mobile home. Water damage from no moisture wrap. Who knew something so simple not put on. Plus, as a consumer, I had no knowledge to notice or check. Unbelievable, a home in Florida with no moisture/barrier wrap.
Very upset and no money to redo the home.

Message: we purchased a skyline home and had nothing with problems. We had the floors rot out,the roof is colapsing because the roof insulation is water saturated.the insurance claim was denied. the insurance inspector stated that many building standards were not followed.like a vapor barrior,15 lb roofing felt, and poor quality three tab shingles.I dont know what do cousin garrys never stood behind their work, skyline wont accept any responsibility for not following standard building codes.
We were NEVER sent a Notice nor my Parents from Skyline nor Your Law Office on this Suit - We are in California and Both Purchased Skyline Homes - One Double Wide, and Triple Wide -

The Double Wide has serious wiring issues - I know this home is missing the weather bearer also - Each of these homes GE A/C and Heating unit has had more than $4000.00 in repairs outside the yearly maintance fees that is needed -

I will check into a class action suit due to Skyline HAD to give you ALL the names of Buyers from the certain years this Weather Bearer was not installed and or the homes models that it pertain too - AND If they Did Not I am sure they should be sued again Posted by Maria Hoekstra on October 22, 2018Why weren't these pulled long ago from the"HUD approved " homes?
So instead these issues continue and we are forced from our homes.

on August 6, 2018We have 93 moblie skyline home with water damage they're recalled for that floorboards are flake pressboard witch are recalled Posted by Ken Balbari on October 14, 2017They aren't the only ones. I get the impression this was pretty common in the industry. Jacobsen Homes not only has had complaints over this found on places like bbb.org, and other consumer sites, they even have a factory tour video on Youtube, where about ten and a half minutes in, you can actually see them installing vinyl siding direct over OSB, and with no flashing around the windows, to boot.

Sad thing is, where I am in Florida, Jacobsen and Skyline are maybe the two best options. The others in this region are worse.

We were NEVER sent a Notice nor my Parents from Skyline nor Your Law Office on this Suit - We are in California and Both Purchased Skyline Homes - One Double Wide, and Triple Wide - Prior to 2009

The triple Wide has had Sprinkler issues with poor installation - Roof Caved in from Pipe that was cut when they were installed in ceiling cause $12,000 in damage.. Then Come to Find out lots of installation was missing in the ceiling - That homes has also had mold problems in the back TWO BEDROOMS - The Roof Has Leaked at the seams in this triple wide in 3 areas

The Double Wide has serious wiring issues - I know this home is missing the weather bearer also - Each of these homes GE A/C and Heating unit has had more than $4000.00 in repairs outside the yearly maintance fees that is needed -

I will check into a class action suit due to Skyline HAD to give you ALL the names of Buyers from the certain years this Weather Bearer was not installed and or the homes models that it pertain too - AND If they Did Not I am sure they should be sued again
