Jury Awards $2 Million in Sexual Harassment Wrongful Termination Suit
Sonoma, CA: A jury has awarded $2 million to a card dealer who alleged she was fired after reporting sexual harassment.
Shannen De La Cruz claimed her work supervisor, Bill Bundesen, began sexually harassing her a few months after she started working at The 101 Casino in Petaluma. She said the behavior included unwanted sexual comments and remarks about her body.
She alleged that after she reported Bundesen to human resources, upper management and Bundesen began to retaliate against her. She was ultimately fired in 2006, after management found out she was exploring legal action. De La Cruz sued casino owners Cal-Pac Sonoma and Cal-Pac Group, alleging wrongful termination, sexual harassment and retaliation.
