Sarasota Student Data Breach Prompts Class Action

A class action suit has been filed against the Princeton Review, following a security breach earlier this summer that resulted in the dates of birth and names of 34,000 Sarasota County students being published on the Internet - in a non-secure area. In some cases, social security numbers were published.

The Sarasota County School District hired the Princeton Review to make tests and do analysis of student's performance. The lawsuit has not yet been certified as a class action. The suit seeks monetary damages and an injunction so a similar event cannot happen again.
