RALPHS GREAT ESCAPE PROMOTION, CALIFORNIA

This case has been settled. Please visit our Homepage to view active cases.

Ralphs Grocery Company has been accused of failing to disclose important terms and conditions to its customers participating in a promotion in California between June 4 and July 15, 2003, called "The Great Escape."

The lawsuit alleges that Ralphs advertised that its Club Card customers who spent $400 on groceries during that period of time would receive a certificate good for a free two-night hotel stay in one of 38 cities, but did not advertise terms and conditions that severely restricted the use of the certificate. Some consumers allegedly did not obtain a certificate at all. Others allegedly obtained a certificate but found it contained terms and conditions that so severely restricted their ability to obtain a free two-night hotel stay that they decided not to attempt to redeem it.

Ralphs Great Escape Promotion Settlement

This case was settled for $12 million.
