Prozac Linked to Suicide

Documents have been found showing that Eli Lilly and Co. allegedly knew more than 15 years ago, that patients using Prozac had an increased tendency towards commiting suicide. Elevated levels of hostility and suicidal tendencies were much higher in patients taking Prozac than in patients on other antidepressants.

According to the 1988 document, 3.7 percent of patients taking Prozac tried to commit suicide - more than 12 times the rate of patients taking other popular antidepressants.

The document also revealed that 2.3 percent of Prozac users suffered psychotic depression, more than twice the rate of patients on other antidepressants. Prozac users also had elevated incidents of hostility and intentional injury, and experienced other side effects such as nervousness, insomnia, anxiety, panic attacks, aggressiveness and agitation.

I had ECT due to the suicide attempts and suffered short and long term memory loss. In addition, I was unable to complete high school with my class and had to get a GED. While taking Prozac, I wouldn't bathe, brush my teeth, I gained 50 lbs, had no friends and suffered severe outbursts of anger.
