The Premcor Refining Group Inc.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against the refinery alleging toxic pollution caused asthma in Port Arthur residents. The lawsuit, Case No. E180-771, was filed in Jefferson County District Court and claims that over the past seven years Premcor Refining Group has released toxic and harmful substances, including but not limited to sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and volatile organic compounds into homes, daycare centers, and schools.

The suit accuses Premcor Refining Group of causing and/or exacerbating the resident' asthma, upper respiratory, sinus, bronchitis, pneumonia, allergy, and rhinitis conditions.
