Perdue Farms Faces Class Action By Hourly Workers

Mount Pleasant, SC: A class action lawsuit has been filed against against numerous plant managers and human resource personnel of Perdue Farms, Inc. The complaint was filed on behalf of plaintiffs who allege that the defendants have conspired to knowingly hire large numbers of illegal aliens. According to the complaint, this "Illegal Immigrant Hiring Scheme" violates the federal immigration laws and the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and depresses the wages of legal workers below market levels.

The lawsuit is filed in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama Southern Division, on behalf of all hourly-paid workers legally authorized to be employed in the United States who are or have been employed by Perdue Farms, Inc. since March 2006 at sixteen poultry processing facilities. The plaintiffs believe that there are likely thousands of Perdue Farms employees who qualify as putative class members.

The complaint alleges that the scheme was conducted and carried out at the following poultry processing facilities owned and operated by Perdue Farms, Inc: Accomac, Virginia; Bridgewater Virginia; Concord, North Carolina; Cromwell, Kentucky; Dillon, South Carolina; Dothan, Alabama; Fayetteville, North Carolina; Georgetown, Delaware; Lewistown, North Carolina; Milford, Delaware; Monterey, Tennessee; Perry, Georgia; Rockingham, North Carolina; alisbury, Maryland; Showell, Maryland; Washington, Indiana.
