Orval Kent Foods Recalls 23,000 Pounds of Amish Macaroni SaladOrval Kent Foods is voluntarily recalling approximately 23,000 pounds of Amish Macaroni Salad that may contain E. coli bacteria, following a test conducted by the Ohio Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Food Safety. The tests results on a single package of Amish Macaroni Salad prompted the recall.E. coli O157:H7 causes a diarrheal illness often with bloody stools. Although most healthy adults can recover completely with a week, some people can develop a form of kidney failure that can lead to serious kidney damage and even death. Young children, the elderly and those with weak immune systems are most susceptible to food-borne illnesses. The products included in the recall were shipped to customers who have distribution to retail and food service establishments in the following areas: Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
