Federal Bureau of Investigation

A lawsuit has been filed and is seeking class action status on behalf of green card holders who have waited years for FBI name checks. The plaintiffs had successfully completed the interview process and cleared criminal background checks. Then they were told their names would have to clear a post September 11 procedure referred to as the "name check." US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations entitle citizenship applicants to hear back about their applications within 120 days of their interviews, but all of the plaintiffs claim to have waited more than two years.

If you feel you should be included in this possible class action, please contact Cecillia Wang of the [American Civil Liberties Union's Immigrant's Rights Project]
