Coors Light Silver Ticket Sweepstakes DefectiveTickets Class Action

- by

A disgruntled football fan has filed a class action suit against MillerCoors, alleging that the beer manufacturer issued invalid codes for prizes in their "Coors Light Silver Ticket Sweepstakes," and therefore reduced the chances of his winning anything in the sweepstakes.

Coors launched the sweepstakes August 1, 2009 in an effort to increase beers sales. The prizes on offer include NFL tickets and gift certificates. The prize codes were placed inside the beer cartons, and purchasers were supposed to find them and enter them via the sweepstakes Web site or text message.

Mario Aliano, who filed the suit on behalf of hundreds of consumers who entered the contest, claims to have purchased a carton of Coors Light because of the promotion, but received the message that his prize code was invalid when he entered it online and via text message.

The suit alleges that Molson Coors Brewing, MillerCoors and Miller Brewing deliberately issued false prize codes. Reportedly, the brewing giant had received numerous consumer complaints about this, but did not issue a statement or make any attempt to inform the public that the tickets were defective.
