A class action lawsuit has been filed against Lafayette County Judge Frank Scroggins, former county attorney Danny Rodgers, and current county attorney John Griffin for allegedly deliberately keeping money belonging to private citizens. The lawsuit could involve hundreds or thousands of people who never were made aware of unclaimed money. The money in question came from oil and gas royalties and condemnations; royalties for oil and gas are paid to local governments when owners of the mineral rights cannot be found. The class action claims Lafayette violated the Arkansas Unclaimed Property Act.
