Ivy House Gardens

A lawsuit has been filed and is seeking class action status against the wedding facility after abruptly closing in September 2007. Brides-to-be paid up to $21,000 in deposits and it is belied that the Ivy House Gardens made off with over $1 million. The lawsuit claims the facility was fraudulent and breached contracts with clients.

After hosting weddings for 60 years at the Victorian style home, the Ivy House Gardens closed its doors on September 11, 2007, leaving dozens of wedding parties without a venue, explanation, or refund on their deposits. The complaint alleges that Ivy House owners failed to notify its clients, with whom they had signed contracts, that the city of Inglewood would not renew the facility's business license. The suit seeks compensation for their deposits, reimbursement for the costs to hold their weddings elsewhere, compensation for emotional distress, and punitive damages.
