Hydroxycut Class Action Launched

A class action lawsuit has been filed in the Kanawha County Circuit Court in Charleston, West Virginia against the manufacturers and distributors of Hydroxycut products. The complaint alleges that Defendants knew, or should have known, that the use of their product may cause liver-related illnesses in consumers.

On May 1, 2009, the FDA recalled 14 Hydroxycut products following reports of adverse effects on consumers. These reports included liver damage, elevated liver enzymes, and liver damage requiring a transplant. One death due to liver failure was reported to the FDA. Other reported health problems include cardiovascular problems, seizures, and serious muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis) that can cause kidney failure. Hydroxycut is a dietary supplement that promotes weight loss.

The complaint seeks recovery for consumers who were charged money for these defective and dangerous products.
