Houlihan's Restaurant

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Houlihan's Restaurant in Geneva, where a food worker was diagnosed with Hepatitis A. The lawsuit alleges all customers who were at the restaurant between January 8 and January 19, 2007 were put at risk for contracting hepatitis and had to get vaccinated. An Illinois statewide public health network distributed immune globulin to more than 1700 people who may have been exposed to Hepatitis A at the restaurant. Hepatitis A can potentially cause liver damage.

The suit alleges patrons have suffered emotional distress, plus loss of wages and in some cases medical expenses. The Kane County Health Department announced that people, especially those who consumed drinks with ice, might be at risk of contracting the virus. The lawsuit also alleges negligence in preparation and distribution of food.
