Hotels.com

A class action lawsuit has been filed against the online travel agency for allegedly discriminating against people with disabilities by refusing to guarantee reservations for wheelchair accessible rooms. The lawsuit was filed in Alameda County Superior Court and seeks an injunction requiring Hotels.com to modify its policies and practices so that it will guarantee reservations for accessible hotel rooms.

Wheelchairs require large doorways and disabled travelers usually need grab bars and accessible bathrooms. The class action claims individuals with disabilities cannot find out whether an accessible room is available until after they travel to their destination and then check-in at the hotel. By doing so, Hotels.com is excluding people with mobility disabilities from its services.
