A class action lawsuit has been filed against Quebec's Federation of Medical Specialists on behalf of a group of patients who had to have their surgeries postponed as a result contract negotiation tactics employed by the Federation. At the end of 2002 and the start of 2003, the Federation's medical specialists held 3 study days, which resulted in more than 3,300 hundred surgeries being cancelled. A patient's rights group has filed the suit on behalf of the patients, claiming that the patients are entitled to $1,000 for each delayed surgery.
