A lawsuit has been filed and is seeking class action status against the popular online dating service for sexual orientation bias. The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and claims eHarmony refuses to offer its services to gays, lesbians, and bisexuals.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of all gays and lesbians who have been denied access to the online service and claims eHarmony violates anti-gay and discrimination laws under California law.
eHarmony was founded in 2000 by evangelical Christian Dr. Neil Clark Warren and had strong early ties with the influential religious conservative group Focus on the Family. It has more than 12 million registered users, and heavy television advertising has made it one of the nation's biggest Internet dating sites.
