A class action lawsuit has been filed against Davidson Companies alleging the Great Falls-based investment company suffered a data security breach as a result of its negligence. Approximately 226,000 Davidson clients' names and Social Security numbers were stolen from a database by a hacker in late January 2008. The lawsuit was filed in federal court and alleges Davidson Cos. did not protect its clients' confidential personal and financial information with industry standards and did not provide adequate safeguards in storing and handling such information. The class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of all current and former Davidson Cos. clients.
