Comcast facing lawsuits from BitTorrent Throttling

Three lawsuits have been filed in California, Illinois, and New Jersey, against broadband and cable TV provider Comcast, accusing the company of interfering with subscribers' file sharing traffic, most notably with torrents. Each of the three lawsuits claim that the company "misled consumers when it promised to offer unfettered access to all the content, services, and applications that the Internet has to offer."

Early this year Comcast, which boasts 14 million broadband subscribers, became the subject of an FCC investigation, and several public hearings, after being found to have been interfering with file-sharing traffic. In the fall of last year, after complaints by numerous users, Comcast was the subject of two investigations, one by the Associated Press and the other by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, both of which accused Comcast of selectively throttling users' file sharing connections.
