Numerous top broadband providers are now including early termination fees in their contracts, with penalties of $200 or higher for consumers. Kirkland, WA-based Clearwire imposes early termination fees ranging from $180 to $220 for customers who drop its wireless broadband service before the end of their contracts.

Early Termination Fees

Individuals report being charged monthly fees and/or “early termination fees” after canceling their service. Such early termination fees were charged even if the cancellation was due to poor Clearwire service.
