On April 19, 2001, Lisa Nicholson was admitted to the hospital where electrical monitoring of her baby took place until 9:04 a.m. the next day, when Chase was born. He was born with severe asphyxia and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, cortical blindness, and a seizure disorder. Lisa filed a lawsuit against the center and the hospital claiming there were abnormalities in the electrical monitoring and claims her baby should have been delivered by Caesarean Section before 3:15 a.m. Morris Hospital offered a $5 million settlement to Lisa Nicholson to be put in a trust for her son.
