A certified class action lawsuit has been filed against Canada's cellular providers for allegedly charging customers unfair system access fees, system licensing charges, and system administration fees. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of all Canadian cellular phone user who have paid such fees and are current or former customers of Bell Mobility, Telus, Rogers & Fido, SaskTel, MTS, and Aliant.

The class action alleges Canada's cellphone users are owed $12 billion plus interest for unfair system access fees collected over the years. It claims the companies are practicing unjust enrichment by charging the so-called system access or licensing fees.
