Cabell Huntington Hospital Admits Over-Radiating CT Brain Scan Patients

Charleston, WV: Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Virginia has recently admitted to over-radiating patients who underwent CT brain scans between October 9, 2009 to November 23, 2010. The hospital is now facing numerous lawsuits with some 100 patients reportedly having been over-exposed to radiation at the hospital during that period.

The over-radiation apparently took place even after the FDA had issued public warnings stemming from its report on several hundred cases of radiation overdoses in brain scan patients at hospitals such as Los Angeles-USC Medical Center, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Huntsville Hospital in Alabama.

Reportedly, federal records reveal that authorities at Cabell Huntington knew of some of the overdoses for as much as three months, but did not disclose them publicly until the New York Times called requesting a comment for a story the paper was investigating.
