Alaska Communications Systems

This case settled in 2005, settlement benefits are being distributed to class members for the period Sept. 2005 to Sept. 2006.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Alaska Communications Systems on behalf of approximately 25,400 Alaskan residents. The suit claims that the company violated the terms of its Infinite Minutes interstate long-distance calling plan, which was introduced in 1999 and allowed phone customers unlimited interstate calling for a flat rate of $20 a month. The company then capped the plan at 600 minutes a month seven months later, and the suit alleges that the company knew that the plan would not continue to be unlimited yet used it to attract customers. The trial for this suit has been set for September 2004.
