Crazy Horse and Fantasies on 5th Avenue strippers lawsuit

Anchorage - Current and former strippers have filed a lawsuit against their employers for allegedly violating the Alaska Wage and Hour Act. The dancers claim club owners are not following state laws and that they are owed back pay related to minimum wage, overtime and fees they had to pay the clubs. The adult entertainers claim they were forced to tip bartenders, bouncers, house mothers and DJs. The director of the state's division of labor standards and safety noted that it is against the law to require workers to tip their colleagues. According to a 1987 Alaska Supreme Court ruling dancers are not independent contractors but are employees subject to employers' rules. They must be paid minimum wage and tips cannot replace minimum wage.
