A lawsuit has been filed and is seeking class action status against the drug maker alleging unpaid overtime to sales representatives. Abbott classifies its reps as exempt under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and they are therefore not entitled to receive overtime pay.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of current and former employees and seeks compensation to those denied overtime pay. The suit claims Abbott reps often work up to 70 hours a week and should not be classified as sales people.
