McDonald's Faces Consumer Fraud Class Action over Monopoly Game

Chicago, IL: A consumer fraud class action lawsuit has been filed against McDonald's restaurants over allegations that the hamburger chain's Monopoly game promotion is misleading.

The suit was filed by Michael Siegel, a resident of Ilinois, who claims he thought he had won a Nissan Leaf car during the Monopoly game promotion, but which did not turn out to be the case. The lawsuit claims that McDonald’s has violated the Illinois Prizes and Gifts Act (IPGA).

“The Act requires a written promotional prize offer to contain in a clear and conspicuous statement information regarding the value and restrictions of the prize offers,” the lawsuit states. The class action lawsuit seeks to represent any persons or entities resident in Illinois who received a Monopoly game stamp between September 27, 2011 and November 5, 2011, that violated the written disclosures required by the IPGA.
