Century 21 Department Store Faces Employee Class Action

New York, NY: A lawsuit has been filed in the District Court of the United States for the Eastern District of New York, on behalf of a class of current and former Century 21 Department Store employees alleging violations of the (FLSA) and New York State labor laws.

The lawsuit contends that employees at Century 21 Department Stores are subjected to off-the-clock security checks when leaving for a lunch break and at the end of each shift which can take in excess of 15 minutes per day. It also accuses the New York based company of having employees work off-the-clock without compensation and of failing to pay overtime wages. The suit alleges that after clocking out, employees are required to wait for a security person to do a search of their person and personal belongings.
