Reglan and Pregnancy…worth the risk?

June 2nd, 2009. By

If you’re facing horrendous morning sickness and are confused about what to do, take your lead from the FDA. They have a classification system for drugs that may be used during pregnancy based on the possible risks to the fetus. Reglan is a Pregnancy Category B drug meaning that there isn’t enough information—read studies done in pregnant humans—to determine if it does cause problems during pregnancy. So, the FDA does not recommend Reglan use during pregnancy.

If you have been using Reglan without your doctor’s knowledge and have experienced any unusual muscle movements such as grimacing, tongue protrusion, lip smacking, puckering and pursing, rapid eye blinking, rapid movements of the arms, legs, and body—get yourself to a healthcare professional.
