Glen Canyon, UT: Two park rangers were killed in a small plane crash near Mt. Dutton, in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Utah, Friday night.

The two rangers, who both worked for the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, reportedly took off from Bryce Canyon airport on Friday, en route to Page, Utah. They were flying a Cessna 172. Rescue crews were alerted after the flight failed to arrive as planned on Friday evening.

Early Saturday morning a comprehensive search was mounted by sherrif's deputies from Garfield and Kane counties, together with the US National Park Service and other agencies. The wreckage was located about two hours later, when the plane was spotted in an area known as Deep Creek, near Mt. Dutton.

At the moment, the cause of the crash is not known, however the National Transportation Safety Board together with the Federal Aviation Administration and the Garfield County Sheriff's Office will be investigating.
