Chinese Drywall Homeowner Applied for a Forbearance Agreement

Middleburg, FL: Sherolyn, a paralegal, had to move out of her new home because it was built with Chinese drywall, and now she is asking her mortgage company for a forbearance agreement. "State officials are encouraging mortgage companies to grant this agreement to homeowners with this toxic drywall," she says.

Miley Cyrus Tour Bus Crashes, Singer Not on Board

Richmond, VA: In the second bus crash in as many days, a tour bus connected to wildly popular singer Miley Cyrus skidded off the highway this morning near Richmond, Virginia and overturned. State police reported to WTVR at the scene that Cyrus, 16, was not on board the bus at the time of the crash, but that one person had died and another had sustained minor injuries.

Firm Takes Another Turn at Bat

Helena, MT: A jury in Montana recently ordered the makers of the legendary Louis Slugger baseball bats to pay the Patch family $850,000 in a wrongful death and product liability suit the family never expected win. “When we were talking to them after they had no idea how much they had won,” says attorney Michael Kauffman from Drake Law Firm. “I think hope the money will go towards what they want to achieve. They don’t want another family to go through what they went through.”

Two Killed, 21 Hurt in Minnesota Tour Bus Crash

Austin, MN: A tour bus carrying a load of passengers home from a casino visit went out of control and skidded off a freeway outside Austin, Minnesota late yesterday. CNN is reporting this morning that two passengers were killed and 21 were injured when the tour bus overturned on Interstate 90, about three miles west of Austin.

Another Study Shows Potential Risk of SSRI Birth Defects

New York, NY: Another study has been published suggesting a potential for SSRI birth defects in children exposed to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) prior to birth. The study found that babies whose mothers used the antidepressants while pregnant were at greater risk of developing congenital heart defects and other SSRI side effects.

Reglan Side Effects Frustrating for Patients

Miami, FL: The Reglan side effects may start so slowly that a patient does not even pay attention to them at first: some excessive blinking, facial twitches and maybe a sudden leg jerk every once in a while. But after a while, the movements become impossible to ignore. By that time, the patient has developed tardive dyskinesia—an untreatable condition that has been linked to excessive use of Reglan.

Man Sues Hospital After Developing Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis

St. Louis, MO: A lawsuit was filed today on behalf of a man who developed a rare disorder called nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) after he was injected with gadolinium-based contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO.

"Heparin Killed My Father"

Portland, OR: Debbie's father passed away in July. His death certificate states that a severe heparin allergic reaction was the secondary cause of death. But Debbie believes the drug was the primary cause of death and wants to know why his autopsy report says that the pathology tests are incomplete. "It's like the VA hospital is hiding something," says Debbie.

"My Brother wasn't Warned about MRI Health Risks"

San Clemente, CA: Even though Mike’s brother had kidney problems, he still underwent several MRIs with a gadolinium-based contrast agent. According to Mike, his brother was never warned about MRI health risks; patients with kidney problems are particularly at risk of developing Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF). The FDA slapped a black box warning on contrast agents in 2006, the year Mike's brother died.
