Boulder, CO: Three people were killed in a mid-air plane crash February 6th. One of the planes, a single-seat Piper Pawnee, was towing a glider. The pilot of the Piper was killed. The other plane, a Cirrus SR 20, carried two people.

Gas Explosion—Two People Confirmed Dead

Middletown, CT: An explosion at the Kleen Power Plant has killed at least two people and injured about 30 others. Authorities expect the number of dead to increase—they are still searching for people. At least 51 people were in the plant when the explosion occurred around 11:30 am.

Illinois Revises Medical Malpractice Law

Springfield, IL: On February 4, 2010 the Illinois Supreme Court voted against the state's medical malpractice law and decided that limits on damages awarded to victims of medical negligence are unconstitutional. Now, Illinois patients may have greater access to health care and lower medical liability rates. The state capped damages several years ago.
